Spiritual Formation Events

Spiritual Formation is an integral and distinctive part of our Christian liberal arts education experience at Roberts.

Students have the opportunity to participate in Chapel, Community Groups, and Formation Workshops. Through these experiences, we hope to foster spiritual growth and discussion throughout the Roberts community.

We feature several options for students to fulfill their spiritual life requirement. Because we believe that the spiritual dimension of our life takes time and attention, full-time freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are required to obtain at least 20 spiritual life credits this semester (modified for Fall 2020 from the standard 20) and full-time seniors (90+ earned academic credits) are required to obtain 10 spiritual life credits each semester.

How do I earn my 20 Spiritual Life credits?

  1. Download the iAttended App
    • Get the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
    • Log in using your Roberts Google account (must end with @bongobaystudios.com)
  2. After installing, click “Enter Code” and enter NZN9
  3. Find Spiritual Life events
    • In the app, go to the “Next” tab. You’ll see all upcoming spiritual life events, including the weekly KICKSTART videos.
    • New videos are posted every Monday by 11:00 a.m.
    • Watch the video, answer the 1-2 questions that follow, and earn a credit for each correct response.
    • The app will automatically track your attendance progress for the semester and you will be able to view your attendance by clicking on the “Progress” tab.
    • Kickstart videos will stay posted for the duration of the semester.
  4. The “Next” tab will also show:
    • Community Groups: If you’ve joined one, it will show here. Group facilitators will track your attendance. Meeting frequency will be determined by the group facilitator.
    • Formation Workshops: When workshops are available, they’ll be listed in this tab of the app.
    • Sunday Evening Monthly Student-Led Chapels

Ways To Earn Credit

Each Monday, we start the week off by creating space and time for our Roberts community to worship and learn together.

Roberts Kickstart videos will go live inside the iAttended App.

Kickstart videos will feature a biblically based message on various topics by guest speakers from all across the world as well as staff and faculty from across campus.

Community Groups are small campus groups that are centered around biblical content that fosters discussion and community. The content can be the topic covered in the Roberts Kickstart videos or other resources that are approved by the Office of Spiritual Life.

If you want to lead a Campus community Group, contact SpiritualLife@bongobaystudios.com. If you want to join a community group, please check with the Office of Spiritual Life for opportunities. New open opportunities will also be posted to this web page.

We recognize that Spiritual growth happens in a variety of ways. Formation Workshops are meant to instruct and equip students to engage in Christian practices such as fasting, prayer, lament, and journaling that will help them grow spiritually.

Follow the Campus Pastor’s social media accounts and check the iAttended app for upcoming Formation Workshops.

These monthly services are organized and led by the Student Association Campus Ministry Director. Location TBD.

Student groups who find a meaningful way to demonstrate Christ’s love in action with a formal charity may bring the proposal to the Spiritual Life Office or email SpiritualLife@bongobaystudios.com for up to 2 credits.

Spiritual Life Credits

For the purposes of recording and tracking attendance, and making Spiritual Life events accessible, Roberts Wesleyan University uses the iAttended app.

Students are responsible for downloading the app to their smartphone or tablet. Students will use the app to attend various Spiritual Life events, receive Spiritual Life credits and track their progress. Students who do not have a portable device capable of downloading the app are still required to create an iAttended account through the website www.iAttendedapp.com in order to track their attendance.
